ENCOURAGE YOUR HUMAN TO PARTICIPATE IN PET THERAPY AT HAWAII ISLAND DAY CARE.  PET THERAPY IS A RELAXING, FUN, STRESS REDUCING ACTIVITY THAT BENEFITS THE KUPUNA, AS WELL AS OUR FURRY FRIENDS!

YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER SHOULD TO BE ON LEASH, CALM,  SOCIABLE, AND READY TO RECEIVE LOTS OF LOVE AND ATTENTION.

WE ARE TRYING TO SCHEDULE THIS ACTIVITY ONCE A MONTH, THE THIRD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH, 1:30-2:30 P.M.  THE FIRST ONE IS JULY 15.  PLEASE REGISTER ASAP.

Peanut Butter Ministry serves the community with a hot meal. Rotary Club of Hilo helps every 5th Monday in the year at the Hilo Methodist Church, 374 Waianuenue Ave from 2-3:30 p.m.  Volunteers are encouraged to help prepare the meals (cut vegetables,open cans, make rice).

Please join us for our second visit to HIAC (Hawaii Island Adult Care) from 1:30-2:30 on Tuesday, August 19.  The participants loved cuddling, petting, and socializing with our furry friends! 

Even if you don't have a pet to share, come and spend time talking story with the kupuna.  They are such a joy!

Saturday, August 23, from 3:30-5:30PM

Dawn De Coito will be hosting a mini social event at 10 Pin Grill, which is the bowling alley at KMC, Volcano National Park. 

Lanes have been reserved. There are 9 spots available - please RSVP. Dawn will be providing the bowling lanes, and each person will be responsible to pay for their own food, drinks, and bowling shoe rental (if bowling).

If you don't want to bowl, you don't have to RSVP - come down and join us. You can watch, mingle, and eat. 

Two lanes have been reserved from 4-5pm. If you are bowling, please arrive at 3:30pm, as you will need to have bowling shoes. Shoe rental is $4 per person, and you must wear socks.

Join us for a casual Saturday morning mixer at Coffee Notes in downtown Hilo! 

If coffee isn't your thing, they have matcha, herbal teas, and refreshing Italian sodas. Pair your drink with a light breakfast, like fresh scones, bagels, or hearty sandwiches, while you connect and talk story with fellow Rotarians.

Join in on this fulfilling new project.  Pet Therapy has become very popular to the Hawaii Island Adult Care participants.  The kupuna's spirits are lifted and yours will be too when you see their eyes light up and the big smiles that greet Rotarians and their furry FRIENDS!  

If you don't have a pet to share, you can still participate!  They love "talking story" with visitors and we always need help with the doggies.

RC of Hilo is partnering with the Assistance League of Hawaii with their program Operation School Bell®.   This program provides new school clothing for elementary, middle and some High School children in Title I schools as identified by the Hawaii State Department of Education and school personnel.

Rotarians will report at Walmart Hilo and help registered students and parents as they bring up their school clothes.  We will tally up totals for them to get them as close to their spending allowance as possible.

It's an easy, but important task. 10 volunteers are needed.  We would love to have a lot of help so we can break up the time into two 2-hour shifts.  Please consider signing up!

Pet Therapy is an easy and rewarding project that all are encouraged to participate!  The participants of the Hawaii Island Adult Care are so appreciative of these visits.  Our furry friends bring them so much joy!  Many of the kupuna tell us that they used to have a much loved pet, but could no longer care for them.  You can see how much it means to them to hug and love on the ones we bring for them.

Please consider giving ONE hour of your time to bring some joy to their lives.  You don't need to bring a pet.  They love to talk story with us and we in turn, are blessed by lots of smiles and love.

Come join us for Taco Thursday hosted by Steven Pavao and Randy Hart at the Hilo Yacht Club on October 23 from 4pm to 6pm.  Happy hour pricing - $7 tacos and $6 margaritas or feel free to order off the menu.  

This event is limited to 10 people per table including the hosts and gets filled up quickly. Also be sure to have cash available to pay your host.  Check directly with your host if they will accept Venmo.
