Impossible Missions #2 - Rotarians At Work Day
Mar. 14, 2025 12:00 p.m. - Apr. 26, 2025 4:00 p.m.

For many young people facing homelessness or housing instability, finding a safe space and the right support can feel overwhelming. That’s why Neighborhood Place of Puna is proud to introduce the Anchor Point Youth Center, a new drop-in center in downtown Hilo designed specifically for youth and young adults aged 14 to 24 who need a helping hand.

Anchor Point Youth Center is the result of a collaborative effort between HOPE Services Hawai’i, Neighborhood Place of Puna, and The Salvation Army. Together, these organizations have created a space where young people can access critical resources and build a foundation for a brighter, more stable future.

Your Mission, if you choose to accept it, is to form eleven teams of like minded Rotarians, to adopt one of eleven Rotary Rooms and fill them with the “must have” items on the attached list. As always, if you are not able to find a team of Rotarians, the Secretary will assign you a team.

This will be our Rotarians At Work Day project for April. Let’s get working to help fill these rooms for Foster Children that are “aging out” of their families and in need of a new place to call home.

Any Is Too Many - Satellite SMVF & FR Sign Waving
Apr. 22, 2025 10:40 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.

*** REMINDER TUESDAY THE 22nd  *** Please Come & join us for another impactful event in Hilo across the King Kamehameha statue on Bayfront Hwy as we come together monthly & unite to combat veterans suicide.

Let's join forces on the 22nd of EVERY Month @ the Any Is Too Many - Together With Veterans - TWV Suicide Prevention & Awareness Campaign ** JUST FOR TODAY ** 10:40am-11:40am (Normally 11am-12pm) Due to another event

The Satellite SMVF & First Responders Club has joined forces with TWV HI, Hawaii Vet2Vet & The Guardian Foundation to raise awareness about veteran suicide. Every DAY, an average of 22 veterans across the United States lose their lives to suicide. Thanks to ongoing efforts such as sign-waving campaigns, educational classes & awareness initiatives, this number has decreased to 17.6. While this progress is encouraging, even one veteran suicide is one too many. To honor the lives lost & continue spreading awareness, we dedicate one hour on the 22nd of every month to holding signs & educating others, reminding everyone that help is available—because Any Is Too Many!

This in-person sign waving event aims to raise awareness & provide support to those who have served our country. Together, we can make a difference. Let's stand up against this critical issue & create a community that supports our heroes. Don't miss out on this opportunity to show your solidarity and contribute to a cause that truly matters. Mark your calendars for the 22nd of every month & join us for an hour filled with compassion, understanding & hope!

Underwear & Slippers Impossible Mission
May 09, 2025 12:00 p.m. - May 23, 2025 1:00 p.m.

The Friends Of The Children’s Justice Center 24 Hour Emergency Clothes Closet is ready to be filled.

Our next mission is for every member to help provide a pair of underwear and plain old rubbah slippers for toddlers to adult sizes to help fill this closet.

Donations will be collected at our May 9 & 23 membership meetings at The Grand Naniloa.

Just a reminder that these children are pulled out at odd hours with nothing but the clothes they have on. Let’s fill this closet to capacity, so the Children know that there are people that Really Do Care About Them.
