The Kanakaleonui Bird Corridor is a fenced in area on the slopes of Mauna Kea. The idea is to plant native trees in the area to connect the lower and upper Mauna Kea forests. That way as temperatures increase due to global warming, the birds will be able to continue to move up the mountain and avoid mosquitos carrying avian malaria. This will be the 3rd year that the East Side Rotary Clubs have planted trees. The previous two years we planted Mamane and Koa. The location is beautiful, the work is not too strenuous, and it's a lot of fun!
